    2. Buy gear with the features you need.
    3. Avoid super-cheap no-name brands.  You will often get what you pay for!

Basic Consumer Camcorder: Panasonic HC-V785

A basic consumer (or home user) camcorder will work great as a scoreboard camera and a starter action camera.  As more and more people use their phones to capture home videos, the demand for basic camcorders has dropped, making basic camcorders harder to find.  Panasonic still manufactures several very good basic models that are available in the US.  You can research all of the Panasonic consumer camcorders on their official site HERE, or check go right to the model we recommend, the Panasonic HC-V785 (on Amazon)

Really Nice Action Camcorder:  Canon XA40

If you have the budget, you won’t regret taking your camera game to the next level with starter-level professional camcorder like the Canon XA40.  This is the action camera that SRSN partner school Branson will be using in the upcoming football season.
